I would have to go with the latest hack of the excellent Neo Geo Rage X. It plays 181 neo geo roms in arcade or console format. I am fully aware about mame32 but really prefer the Rage emulator. Which do you prefer?

Kawaks, it's nice and easy and it does the job. I really dislike Mame32, Kawaks is so much nicer to use. I'll check out the Neo Geo Rage X emulator aswell.

Kawaks is the emulator I use too. Emulation seems of high quality for most games and I've never had many problems running it or setting up controllers on it. I hear that Nebula is also good, and is based on a lot of the same code. I've only got Kaillera net play to work a couple of tiumes but it sounds pretty cool.
I've never been too keen on MAME though. I much prefer specialised emulators such as Kawaks, Final Burn etc. Though MAME is great to play a lot of older arcade titles.

For the Neo Rage is definitly my top pick, MAME is no slouch but can be a real pain at times so I prety much stopped using it long ago.
In reality the only EMU I have ran in the last year or so is the excelent ScummVM for the Lucas Arts games, it doesnt get any better than that
My other true fave is Virtual Pinball, usually Pinball on a PC is a pretty big joke but this thing gets it right

It's been a Hell of a long time since I used an emulator but I used to use Neo Rage, it was always pretty reliable, played just about everything at the time, and was VERY easy to use. I imagine it's still the same. For Capcom games I used to use Raine.
I don't use any anymore, now I save my pennies and buy the real thing.
LOL, it is funny how mame is by far the best in OVERALL arcade emulation no doubt about that but when it comes to individual NEO GEO games almost all major emulators for the neo are better then mames.

NeoRageX gets my vote. Despite the shoddy performance of my computer recently, the games run by that emulator hardly gave me problems in comparison to the other emulators.

i don't like kawaks, its good for realbout fatal fury special only.
mame 32 is good to play hacks, not my ultimate choice
now neo rage x is something else, especialy versions 0.8 and 5.0
the first one plays all the games till 2001 very well and the latter emulates everything including all hacks

Kawaks. It plays everything I have perfectly or near perfect. For a long time I used Neoragex and that emulator is amazing considering how long it worked after it's last update. I transferred all my roms to kawaks though since the newer stuff didn't work as well on neoragex.

Neo Rage and the updates are actually free of charge and easy to find all over the net. The roms are the problem and I'm afraid we can't hand out links to them even if know their locations.
Followup question; which, if any, Neo Rage version supports the UniBIOs? Considering I own an original copy of SS5 Special it would be nice to try the arcade version until I can chip my machine.

You know what guys, screw everything I've just said. NeoRage is the best. And Samurai Shodown 5 Special is quite possibly the coolest game I've ever played. Holy shit that game is awesome. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have about 150 + games to play.. ( God bless uh...well, "services"
